The 2G and 3G shutdown

Many cheap trackers are still 2G only. The day your carrier switches that network off, the device goes silent even if it is brand new. Check your country before buying a batch.

What this means when buyingIf the network is already off in your country, a 2G device is worthless even for free. If there is a date, count how much life the device has left before you buy it. And «no public date» does not mean forever: it means the carrier has not committed yet.

Where the dates come from

Checked on 2026-08-16. This changes: if you see something out of date, tell us.

And while you are here: this is what we do

Appogio is a white-label GPS tracking platform. We do not sell the service to the end customer: we rent it to people who want to sell it under their own name. You bring the brand, the domain and the price. We bring the infrastructure and the engineering: the servers the devices report to, the continuous work of keeping 246 different protocols current, and the development of the panel and the apps. You do not set up servers or hire developers.

Frequently asked questions

When is 2G being switched off in my country?

Every country runs its own timetable and some carriers move ahead of the rest. The table on this page has the date by country and by carrier.

How do I know whether my tracker is 2G?

By the exact part number, not by the brand: the same manufacturer sells the same model in 2G and in 4G. If you have the IMEI to hand, the IMEI tool tells you what the device is.

What happens to my devices when that network goes?

They stop reporting, and there is nothing to configure to fix it: the device loses the network it spoke over. It has to be replaced.

Do I have to replace the whole fleet at once?

No, and it is better not to. Check which network each device uses, sort them by the switch-off date in your area, and replace in batches, warning the customer months ahead instead of on the day they go blind.
