The GpsGate protocol

GpsGate is not a hardware manufacturer: it is a <strong>tracking platform</strong> that also defines its own protocol, used by its TrackerOne client and by apps reporting in that format.

It behaves like any other protocol: the device or app sends the position to a server that understands it. Our server listens for it, so there is no need to stay on that platform.

Which port it comes in onOur server listens for the GpsGate protocol on port 6026. That is the port you set on the device, together with the server address. Point it somewhere else and the data still leaves, but the server cannot read it.
Careful with what other sites tell youHere is what is useful to you: if a customer arrives with devices configured against GpsGate, <strong>the hardware does not have to change</strong>. You change the address it reports to and it keeps working. It is the cheapest migration there is.

My customer comes from GpsGate — do the devices have to change?

No. You change the address they report to and they keep working. It is the cheapest migration there is.

Does our server understand it?

Yes, it listens for it. You do not need to keep paying for that platform to keep the devices.
