The TAIP (Trimble) protocol

TAIP is an <strong>open protocol created by Trimble</strong>, not a device brand. That is why devices from very different manufacturers speak it, and why the name misleads as much as Wialon IPS does.

It is a plain-text protocol, so it can be read in a log without decoding. You find it in older installations and in devices aiming for broad compatibility.

Which port it comes in onOur server listens for the TAIP (Trimble) protocol on port 6031. That is the port you set on the device, together with the server address. Point it somewhere else and the data still leaves, but the server cannot read it.
Careful with what other sites tell youWhen registering you must <strong>pick TAIP, not search for the manufacturer's name</strong>. It is the same trip-up as Wialon IPS: search the brand in a compatibility list, fail to find it, and conclude the device is useless — when it isn't.

Yes, it is plain text: readable without decoding, unlike binary protocols.
