Pengsent: budget range with fuel cut-off, and the trap it brings

Chinese manufacturer from Nanchang with a catalogue for cars, motorcycles, assets and people. Its FM01 is a small tracker with a relay for fuel cut-off and text-message alerts.

Who you sell it to: motorcycles, private cars and small-scale finance — the customer who wants to be able to immobilise the vehicle if payments stop.

What it earns you: the high margin of the budget range plus one function, the cut-off, that is charged separately because it demands a real installation.

What to watch — and this is the serious part: the cut-off has to be properly fitted or it is useless, and badly fitted it means a car stopped in the middle of a road. Charge what it is worth, use trained staff, and test it in front of the customer on handover day.

To put the anti-theft offer together: theft prevention and immobilising, vehicle rental and what to charge and how often.
