Stars Navigation: years of battery in a device with no wiring

Taiwanese manufacturer of positioning equipment. Its PT-35 is a battery device for people, assets or vehicles with very aggressive power-saving modes: the manufacturer states up to five years in deep sleep, and around ten hours reporting continuously.

Who you sell it to: assets with no power — trailers, containers, idle machinery — lone workers, and anything that has to be followed without being wired.

What it earns you: installation in minutes with no technician, and a market with far less competition than the car. Nobody is going to fight you over the owner of twenty trailers for twenty dollars, because almost nobody is selling to him.

What to watch — and this is where customers are lost: those five years are in deep sleep. If the customer asks for a position every five minutes, the battery lasts weeks. Agree the reporting rate in writing before installing, or the blame lands on you.
