SPOT: the emergency button that sells itself where there is no signal

It is the satellite device line from Globalstar, the US company that also runs its own satellite network. Several models carry an emergency button that alerts rescue services.

Who you sell it to: mountains, sea, mining, extensive agriculture and routes through empty country. And as a safety backup for staff working alone and far away.

What it earns you: a completely different sale from everything else in your catalogue — it is not bought to control, it is bought to stay alive. That customer does not haggle. And it opens the door to companies with a legal duty to protect field staff.

What to watch: never promise a rescue. You sell an alert, not an emergency service — make it absolutely explicit in the contract what the device does and does not do. And satellite service is recurring and expensive: build it into the price from day one.

For selling where there is no coverage: satellite coverage, tracking in agriculture and freight transport.

Which protocol it speaks: Spot devices reach the platform over the Globalstar and SPOT protocols. Their pages explain what they are and how they work.
